Working with teachers and community partners, students cleaned and organized community spaces, assisted food pantries, tended gardens and outdoor areas, and supported organizations serving local families.

Other projects included visiting senior citizens, assembling care packages for children and first responders, and using creative and technical skills to make games and other items for local organizations.

Community partners included the Kearney Food Pantry, Kearney Senior Center, Kearney Family Foundation, Children’s Mercy, local first responders, area senior living communities and several KSD elementary schools.

Some students worked behind the scenes preparing supplies and organizing donations. Others connected directly with those they served through conversations, shared laughter and even line dancing.

The annual event gave students an opportunity to put their time and talents to work addressing community needs while building connections beyond the classroom.
