Kearney School District to Host Board Candidate Information Session

Kearney School District will host an information session in November for community members considering a run for the district’s Board of Education.

The Board of Education Candidate Information Session is scheduled for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the KSD central office, 425 W. Washington St. The meeting is open to the public and will explain the election process as well as the roles and responsibilities of school board members.

The next General Municipal Election will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2027. Candidate filing opens Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2026, and closes Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2027.

Under Missouri law, candidates must be U.S. citizens, resident taxpayers of Kearney School District, residents of the district for at least one year immediately before the election and at least 24 years old. Additional state requirements and disqualifications also apply, and the district will provide complete filing information before the filing period begins.
